unfortunately often suffer from a bad reputation. This is exactly what
BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz aims to change. Its goal is to educate,
inform, and provide assistance wherever needed, so that dogs listed by law
will no longer be viewed with skepticism in the future. Which breeds are

What are "dangerous dog breeds"?

The term 'list dogs' is frequently encountered – unfortunately, primarily in
negative headlines of newspaper reports recounting stories of serious bites or other unpleasant incidents involving canines of certain breeds.

To protect the public, regulations and lists have been developed and enacted to prevent incidents like those mentioned above. In some cantons, list dogs are classified as potentially dangerous. Each canton has its own individual lists and
laws and associated requirements for their owners. Some
cantons prohibit keeping listed dogs, while others require a
permit.

Precisely because the list dog law is the responsibility of the cantons, there is no nationwide
regulation on which breeds are considered list dogs – they vary depending on the
canton. However, American Staffordshire Terriers,
(American) Pit Bull Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers can be found on all lists.

The problem

We all want the public to be protected from dog bites and attacks. However, BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz wants to make people aware that a dangerous dog does not inherently belong to a specific breed.

Just as a Border Collie places demands on its owner, so does a Staffordshire Terrier. If these demands are not met, if the dog was not properly socialized, not trained, not kept in an appropriate manner, or comes from a poor breeding line, this paves the way for aggressive behavior in a dog – regardless of its lineage.

Exacerbating factors include inappropriate keeping and training for fighting dogs, which can lead a dog to develop an aggressive nature. "The problem is not the dog, but always the human, and banning certain dog breeds does not prevent dangerous dogs from continuing to exist," says BullStaff Hilfe.

A hot and difficult topic that repeatedly causes friction between owners of so-called "list dogs" and skeptics. BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz wants to bridge the gap between the two sides and educate.

Whether (future) owners of listed dogs simply want to gather information, seek help, or exchange ideas with others, interested parties will find the right place at BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz – an organization that volunteers for the welfare of animals.

BullStaff Hilfe provides educational work, helps with problems, and is a point of contact for veterinary offices in cases of seized dogs. If certain conditions are met and a temperament assessment has been carried out, the organization occasionally takes in and re-homes listed dogs to a safe and loving home.

We were able to provide some collars from our boutique to these sweet creatures – so that they could shine for their photo shoot and immediately captivate their new owners. The results are heartwarming!

It's showtime!

It all started with an inquiry from Esthy Fehlmann of '0816 FotoArt'. We have been following her work for a long time and have even personally experienced the professional services of the photographer. For quite some time, this first-class photographer has been supporting BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz voluntarily with her photographic finesse.

When she asked us if we were interested in a collaboration in the field of dog rehoming, we didn't have to think twice!

"Cool idea!" we thought. Wherever people advocate for the well-being of animals, especially homeless dogs, we are always happy to support them.

A date and a location – a go-kart track – were set, and off we went, with collars, leashes, and plenty of accessories for our furry models!

Upon arrival, the first thing we did was try on, adjust, and match which items suited which of the four-legged friends. After a visit to the colorful wardrobe, the four-legged models were then ready for their close-up – with encouragement from Sandy, the president of BullStaff Hilfe Schweiz, and motivated helpers!

Through the perfect matching of coat colors, background, and accessories by the photographer Esthy, the furry friends were perfectly staged so that they can conquer their future owner's heart.

In our opinion, the results of the shoot are truly impressive!

Are "dangerous" dog breeds allowed in Kunterbuntes Rudel?

Just like Bull Staff Hilfe Schweiz, we also believe that aggressive behavior cannot be attributed to individual breeds.

Therefore, list dogs are also welcome at Villa Bunterhund. The prerequisite for us is that the dog is well socialized – regardless of its origin. If a paw meets this requirement and feels comfortable with us, it is welcome to visit us at any time.
